About

Calie
Owner and Lead Landscaper

Calie Ramisch – Owner

Calie has spent almost her entire life with dirt under her nails. From invasive species management at a Tibetan monastery in North Carolina to organic farm work in Patagonia, Chile; she has been a keen observer of the human/plant connection. She originated in the lushness of the Pacific Northwest and then in 2006 began migrating every which way to learn more about gardens, farms and people. After several years of living abroad and working seasonally, she moved to Maine in 2013. There, she studied horticulture at Southern Maine Community College and began landscaping in New England through private gardens and a three-year position with the non-profit Friends of Fort Williams Park. While working for the foundation, she gained an in-depth understanding of invasive plant species identification and eradication in New England as well as the benefits of native plantings on a large scale. Following her time with the Friends of Fort Williams Park, she continued landscaping in residential and commercial areas and then created her own business, Merrymeeting Landscapes, in 2020.

Meaghan
Site Supervisor

Meaghan Ruane – Site Supervisor

Plants and the natural world have always been an integral part of Meaghan’s life. Having been born into a family that prioritized a relationship with nature, and to a landscaper father, she has always been drawn to plants and fascinated by what they can teach us about the world. Prior to working professionally as a gardener, Meaghan pursued a career in food. During that time she learned about working with local produce and farmers, the seasonality of edible plants and our local food systems. Desiring to expand her knowledge and relationship with plants, she began working at private landscaping companies. Over the last half of a decade she has honed her skills working in residential gardens and continues to expand and grow her knowledge base.

Finch

Finch and Sam are best friends and you will often see them racing around the yard together. Or you will see Finch spring to life as he tries to run Sam down like he is a lost sheep. Those two are quite the pair.
